Happy Birthday little man!

My best friend Jaime Connor finally gave birth to the newest addition of their family this past Saturday. Chase Maxwell Connor is a happy healthy prince that joined us weighing 7 lbs. 2 oz and was 19 inches long.
Mr. Max I know you just left Heavenly Father but you haven't gone too far because he gave you some of the most celestial parents on earth. But-they still know how to have fun! I am SO happy for your family. As a side note *Jaime is already wearing her regular jeans! She is smart, funny, talented and a gorgeous spiritual giant! I miss you guys dearly- I really really miss you!! Hopefully our family someday can make the trip to Hawaii to visit before you guys get out of the Navy! I love being in your lives and you have indeed made ours very much the richer. I know for a fact that when the winds blow and the tempest rage you are the people whose hands I want to be holding on to. I would be a different person if it weren't for the influence of my Jaime and I hope our children grow to have friends that are there through the good times and the bad (and the ugly-many a times Jaime has seen me without makeup!) I can not think of a better family to have this little bundle of perfection. Congratulations my dear friends! P.S. For all of you who aren't as blessed as me to know them they are at philipandjaimeconnor.blogspot.com and you can see Chase Maxwell!

just somethin-

Tonight our Korbin just was not sleepy and being as I don't care if he's tired or not he went to bed anyways but being the most awesome mother I am I also do not mind if he looks a books with a soft light on. This is how tonight went down:
8:00 bed time
9:00 I say 'Korbin I can hear you! Go to sleep or just turn on your office light and look at books.'
9:30 Jaxon goes in and finds Korbin with amazing assortment of hot wheels lined up to race on the middle of Korbin's floor.'Dude you have to get into bed, I don't care if you look at books but you have to get in bed'
9:30 and one micro-second later: Korbin says 'So I can just put what I want to play with IN my bed and play there.' not a question a statement.
9:30 and 3 seconds: Jaxon 'NO you have read books or turn off the lights.'
9:31 Korbin 'But, I actually don't know how to read' as quick as ever.
9:31 and twenty seconds: 'Look I know you know the letter and I know you know the sounds so you just look at the books and see if anything jumps out at you- go to sleep.'
9:32 Korbin singing alphabet song loudly from his room to try and remember what sounds the letter should be making.
9:33 Jaxon comes downstairs laughing at the quick-wit and humor Korbin has inherited.
I have a happy moment.

Fire Station Field Trip

Although this week has been an emotionally draining pain in my butt I thought- There must have been something great that I'm missing that happened? I took Mom to the airport and distracted Shannon enough to get her first speeding ticket ever. No that's not it. I had a few interesting conversations with friends. No that's not it either. I gained a pound. Nope not it at all. OH wait...
Korbin's super darling field trip to the Fire House. Can I just say the the firefighters in this area are more than welcome to pull me out of a burning building. That's all I'm saying. Anywhoo. Korbin had a great time looking at the state of the art new firetrucks. If only our nation would put as much infasis on everything else (but that's for a whole nother blog). The truck had a bunch of handy features such as a hose shield to protect it from UV rays that opened up automatically and a ladder that swung down by itself by the push of a button and stadium lighting so they can see in burning second floors. I was quite impressed. Which I'm in turn impressed with- being as I think EVERYTHING could be better. Korbin felt a little jipped with all his fire safety knowledge that he didn't get to spend more time on the truck itself but he very much enjoyed holding Kate's hand (a very pretty young lady in his class) the ENTIRE TIME! He also liked telling the firemen repeatedly that we have a fire plan and if his door is hot he is allowed to jump out of his window and run to Ms. Jackies. They asked me if that was a tall tale and when I said it wasn't I think we went up a little notch in their opinions of how cool my kid is that he would actually do that. Lets just hope that if the time comes all these field trips and FHEs are needed that Korbin will get the opportunity to jump heroically out of our burning home to scream and run to Ms. Jackies!!!
